X-Men Prequel May Film in Michigan

The West Michigan Film Office sent out an alert that 20th Century Fox is scouting locations in the state for X-Men: First Class:

A location scout is seeking out areas with a 1960′s, South-American or Central American island feel for the next X-Men movie, ‘X-Men: First Class.’ In particular, he needs to find cafe and bar locations, evoking the Argentinian feel of Bariloche, and an Art Deco Cafe or restaurant overlooking a body of water. Additionally, the movie calls for a Miami styled harbor for yachts. If you know of any locations that seem to match a description, please contact our office.

“Transformers” Franchise Coming Back To Detroit

Most of you know that the apocalyptic Michigan Central Station in Detroit was used as a setting in the first Transformers movie way back in 2006..  Well let the rumors be true, Transformers 3 will be shooting for several weeks in Detroit, Michigan again this summer

In all, six weeks of the 4 1/2 months of shooting will occur in the L.A. area, with the rest of the filming spread across Chicago, Detroit, Washington and Cape Canaveral, Fla., and a few foreign locales, including Russia and an undisclosed African country, Bryce said.

Bryce said the science-fiction action movie starring Shia LaBeouf, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Patrick Dempsey required more diverse locations than L.A. could offer, and also cited the advantages of “very attractive rebates” offered in Michigan and Illinois, which will also host the production for six weeks. – L.A. times
