Michigan Film Loader Workshop

With a substantial number of films anticipated coming into Michigan in 2009, Fletcher Camera - Detroit and the International Cinematographer Guild, Local 600, will be putting on a Film Loader Workshop on Dec. 30th and Jan. 7th. This workshop will help prepare new assistants for potential job opportunities in the rapidly emerging Michigan Film industry. (learn more)

It Came From Detroit

Here’s the brand new trailer for the ultimate modern day Detroit Rock documentary It Came From Detroit.

It Came From Detroit is an insidelook at the Detroit’s internationally renowned “garage rock” msuci scene. Produced over five years, the documentary chronicles the scene before and after the spotlight that came to town as the White Stripes rose to fame.

This trailer was edited by Derek Swanson at Mad River Post and conformed by Matt Meires of RingSide Creative. The film’s director/editor James R. Petix and producer Sarah Babila are currently looking for distribution, as well as planning worldwide screenings.

Grand Torino Set For The Box Office

When Will Killshot Be Released?

There is speculation all over the Internet on when the Weinstein company will release the adaptation for Elmore Leonard’s Killshot. Killshot, starring Mickey Rourk and Diana Lane was shot in and around Detroit, Michigan in 2008 and has a set release date of January 23, 2009. However, with the release date fast approaching, their is still no trailer for the movie.

West Michigan Sees Independet Movie Boom

Val Kilmer in The Steam ExperimentA independent movie producer is currently scouting out Grand Rapids for his new movie Hopeful Notes. Recently the upcoming Val Kilmer suspense thriller The Steam Experiment was rewritten to feature Grand Rapids landmarks.

The movie revolves around six people trapped and terrorized in an urban Turkish bathhouse. Kilmer plays a former university professor who overheats his hostages to prove that humans will self destruct under the pressures of global warming. He tells detective (Armand Assante) that their location will be revealed if his hypothesis is printed on a paper’s front-page.

The six victims are pro football player (Eric Roberts), actress (Megan Brown), nurse (Patrick Muldoon), waitress (Eve Mauro), restaurateur (Quinn Duffy) and writer (Cordelia Reynolds). As temperatures rise, the desperate detainees fight to survival.

The Rain Chronicles; a feature horror film starring David Carradine, recently shot at a museum in Troy Michigan. The film is part of MPI (Motion Picture Institute of Michigan) which is a hands on film school that uses it’s students for key production roles in their films.
