Last Friday before his appearance at the Royal Oak Music Theater, acclaimed directer Kevin Smith told the Drew & Mike morning show on WIRF that he will be shooting his upcoming hockey movie Hit Somebodyin metro Detroit this year. The film is rumored to star Seann William Scott and Johnny Yong Bosch and will be set in the 1970s in the final days of old-time hockey, the World Hockey Association, and blood-splattered ice.
My sources tell me that the upcoming Richard Gere and Annette Bening movie State of The Union will be filming in Detroit this spring. What is most interesting is that the 1948 original was also shot in Detroit at the Westin Book Cadillac Hotel.
Reuniting the Director and Stars of Pretty Woman and Runaway Bride, State of the Union is a romantic comedy directed by Garry Marshall. It is based on the Pulitzer prize-winning play by Howard Lindsay & Russel Crouse. This film is a remake of State of the Union, a 1948 film directed by Frank Capra, starring Spencer Tracy & Katharine Hepburn
Dimension Films might be placing the Scream 4 production in Michigan. Production Weekly says they’ve opened up offices there for the sequel. It appears the Weinstein brothers are taking advantage of Michigan’s film production tax incentives. Scream 4 got the green light yesterday with Wes Craven at the helm.
Dimension has it scheduled to open in theaters on April 15, 2011.
