Gran Torino was shot in Metro Detroit last summer and has been one of the biggest movies made in Michigan since the recent passage of the state’s new film tax incentives that allow productions to recoup close to 40% of their costs.

Gran Torino producers Village Roadshow also left Time Warner hold the bag on three other films; Get Smart, Yes Man, Nights in Rodan.
