MMM Goes On-Location with “Stone” & “The Irishmen”

A local production must read Michigan Movie Magazinei has posted some key photos and part of their article on the final weeks of shooting of the upcoming Edward Norton, Robert DeNiro flick Stone. Stone has been shooting all over Michigan the last few months including Jackson and Dexter.

Also on the cover of this month’s issue is a first look at the Detroit made movie The Irishman (staring Christopher Walken, Val Kilmer and Ray Stevenson) so you should start thinking about subscribing today.

Actor Robert De Niro is currently in Southeast Michigan shooting the new thriller Stone (also starring Edward Norton) and is executive producer on the upcoming Martin Landau movie 20% Fiction, which is also shooting in Southeast Michigan.

Michigan Production Update – May 21, 2009

Mlive.com talks with Terminator Salvation director McG about shooting the future sequels in Michigan (read MotorCityFlicks’ take on this here.)

Robert De Niro is also the executive producer for the upcoming Val Kilmer and Martin Landau “dramedy” 20% Fiction – which will also be shooting in Troy Michigan this summer.

MLive.com reports that Warner Brothers has recently leased a building in Ann arbor to shoot the upcoming Rob Riner film adaption of the “coming of age” novel Flipped.  They also report that if the production goes well Warner Brothers will keep the space for a second movie.

Robert De Niro, Edward Norton Shooting New Movie At Jackson Michigan Prison

The Detroit Free Press reports that filming for the new Robert De Niro and Edward Norton psychological thriller Stone started filming today at Michigan’s closed-down state prison in Jackson.  The state of Michigan is being reimbursed about $70,000 for use of the prison and for time spent by state employees working on the project.  

According to IMDB the Stone is about a ruthless convict engages in a series of disturbing mental games with his corrections officer in an attempt to gain parole.
